This Chinese of Dash Ahead Regardless Of One's Own Safety--Fen Bu Gu Shen is 奋不顾身, and Pin Yin rù shì cāo gē . 读“奋不顾身”的中文故事. During the Western Han Dynasty, there was a brave general named Li Ling who was the grandson of the famous general Li Guang. In 99 BC, Emperor Wu of Western Han Dynasty launched an attack against Xiong Nu (a non-Han Chinese group) in the Tian Shan region (modern the south of Xi Jiang province). Li Ling (李陵) was assigned to provide escort for the supply line of Western Han's force. Li Ling disliked the role very much, thus he requested Emperor Wu to allow him to lead his personal legion as the right wing to the east. Emperor Wu initially frowned at the idea, and warned Li Ling that there was no additional cavalry available to assign to him, but later the Emperor was moved by Li Ling's enthusiasm, giving him the green light. |
