At the end of eastern Han dynasty, China was torn by tens of warlords, with each of them dominating a region. In the northern China, Cao Cao, the strongest warlord, began a general campaign aimed at wiping out all opposition in southern China and reunifying the empire. At the beginning, Cao Cao conquered many places and defeated his long-term rival Liu Bei. But when his army began to attack Jiang Dong, the region of the warlord Sun Quan, they encountered fierce resistance. Cao Cao's army were mainly composed of northerners who were not used to fighting on the boat. After losing some small battles, Cao Cao had to put on the defensive, confronting with Sun Quan's troops on each bank of the Yangtze River. |

| Bu Ke Jiu Yao--Incurable |
This Chinese of Incurable--Bu Ke Jiu Yao is 不可救药, and Pin Yin bù kě jiù yào. 读“不可救药”的中文故事. King Li was a fatuous and self-indulgent ruler in the Zhou Dynasty. To live in excessive luxury and extravagance, he squeezed his people badly; moreover, he was surrounded by a group of fawning admirers who not only neglected his mistakes but also added fuel to his unpopular ruling. Worrying about this, Fan Bo, a faithful senior minister, often remonstrated with the negligent ruler in the hope that he could return to the right path; however, what all his efforts had got was not the king's attention but his and his intimate ministers' laughing. |
